God Speaking His Love

About two weeks ago, I watched a video of a little boy named Grayson.  Grayson is three years old and deaf.  Because Grayson was born without cochlear nerves, he was unable to get a cochlear implant, but he was able to receive a different device, an auditory brain stem implant.  In fact he was the youngest to get this implant.  The video I watched was shared all over the internet showing Grayson hearing his Dad for the first time.  His father said "Daddy Loves You!"  Grayson perked up when he heard his father's voice.  His father then tapped Grayson so he would turn around and then signed as well as said "Daddy Loves You!"  He also signed Grayson's name.  His father was making sure Grayson could fully understand what it was he was hearing.

This moment between father and son reminded me of our father in Heaven and how our lives are surrounded by His whispers and even shouts of His love for us.  He too has called us by name.

Isaiah 43:1
But now, this is what the LORD says-- he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.

God whispers His love for us in many ways.  He whispers his love when you bite into possibly the tastiest nectarine you have ever eaten.  He created this earth, these treats for you to enjoy, and He created you with what you need to enjoy them.

God whispers His love for you in a call from a friend exactly when you need someone to hear you showing you that you are not alone.

God whispers His love in a smile from a little baby when you are standing in line at the grocery store with a multitude of to-do lists running off in your head sharing that joy can be found in simple interaction.

God whispers His love when you get everything done that you needed to do (note the word needed) when you were sure that you could not.  He reminds you that He has equipped you to tackle anything.

God also shouts his love to us.

God shouted His love for us through the gift of His son.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

2 Corinthians 5:21
God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

God shouts His love for us through His son's sacrifice.

Romans 5:8
But God commendeth (showed) His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

God shouts His love for us through His creation.  His people who give their gifts and even their lives for others unselfishly and bravely.

John 15:13
"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

God shouts His love when a community asks "What can I do to help?"

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.  If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.  Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone?  A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.

God is reaching and God is speaking to us each and every day.  Just as Grayson's father reached out to share that dear truth that his daddy loves him, your Father in Heaven loves you too. We just need to slow down and listen.

Zephaniah 3:17
The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you by His love; he will exult over you with loud singing.

  1. Luv this post Kelly! Everytime I look out my window, I see the perfect love Heavenly Father feels for us. It's almost too much to comprehend. I love my kids so much - I can't even express it - and His love for us is even greater.

That's the sad part. We disappoint him every moment of every day. This world is in shambles. I don't know how He can bear it.

thanks so much for this post! Have an awesome week, and thanks for linking up with us at Linkin' With The Ladies!

  2. This is really a great post. I heard a sermon on Father's Day where our preacher was telling us we did have a Father, no matter what, and this reminded me of that...both were very touching.
