Thrifty Tips for November 14

I am sure you  have heard it before "If you want to save money on produce, buy it when it is in season for your area."  This works because the cost of shipping is lower so the grocer does not have to charge you as much to recoup their costs.  This all sounds great, but what if you don't know what is in season in your area?  That is when you should go to the Peak-Season Map at  Now you can see by month and state exactly what fruits and veggies are in season so you can take advantage of the savings.  Here's a nice example, in Arizona beets, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, grapefruit, kale, leeks, lemons, pumpkins and winter squash are in a healthy supply.

FREE EBOOKS (Keep in mind that these books were free at the time of my posting.  That can change so be sure to confirm the price before downloading)

Daughter of Twin Oaks (Secret Refuge Series #1) by Lauraine Snelling Baker Publishing (CHRISTIANBOOK.COM) (AMAZON) (BARNES & NOBLE)

Asking for Trouble: 1 (London Confidential) by Sandra Byrd Tyndale House Publishers Inc (AMAZON) (BARNES & NOBLE) (CHRISTIANBOOK.COM)

Blackberries are on sale at Fry's.  Here is a link to a wonderful Blackberry Chocolate Angel Food Trifle from Keep Your Diet Real.  I'll be honest, it looks great and has low calories, but I didn't see any chocolate in it.  Still, I'd give it a shot.

Get five free music downloads at FREECCM and while you are there, listen to a free album commentary from Laura Story about her latest album "The God of Every Story."

Join Cinnabon's club and get a coupon for one free Minibon cinnamon roll and get a free Mochalatta Chill on your birthday.  Sign up at this link.

Do you like trying new products and are you will to give your opinion?  If so you should think about joining PinchMe.  After you register and tell them about yourself, you get an email confirmation and you can then choose to try products as they become available.  You can also earn rewards in addition to the free products.  I am totally new to it, but so far I like it and I have friends who have really enjoyed it.

Download a free Advent Activity Calendar for the family at Focus on the Family.  Start by telling them a bit about yourself (address and email) and they will send you to a page with all kinds of great activities.  Sign up and get your Advent Calendar Download here.

During the month of November you can also get a free subscription to Thriving Family magazine from Focus on the Family.  Find out more at this link.

Lowe's Build & Grow Clinic for the kids on December 14th will be a cute little Christmas train engine.  Spaces are filling up quickly so head on over to the sign up page today.
